This description is provided by Olive Thexton of Fylde Branch.
Baptisms show date and names of the baptised and of parents and signature of officiant should appear. (Occasionally they left after the service without filling in the register).
Other details: alleged date of birth, father's occupations, (later mother's too), address, godparents/sponsors, become increasingly frequent as the 19th century progresses until almost universal (but exceeding rare before 1800) with the gradual introduction of pre-printed register books.
Registers also record reception into church following emergency baptism at home, often no distinction is made.
Roman Catholic Baptism registers should be annotated with any later sacraments received (confirmation, marriage, ordination).
