 Glossary:  FHC

This description is provided by Olive Thexton of Fylde Branch

FHC: Family History Centre.

A network of over 3,000 centres world-wide provide access to the materials of the Family History Library which itself is located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Usually found in association with a Church of the Latter Day Saints, these centres are usually staffed by volunteers who can assist you in your research endeavours.

They are open to all, you need not be a Church of the Latter Day Saints member to use them.

The Church of the latter Day Saints' library in Utah is the largest repository of genealogical materials in the world. Microfilm and microfiche copies of much of the data are available on loan to your local "FHC"

Tips

If you have an acronym or term that is not listed, send an email giving the letters and the context. We will try to find out for you, and add it to this list in the glossary
